As one of the most effective ways to relieve stress, watching horror movies can stir our pulse and is conducive to the secretion of adrenaline, a hormone known as epinephrine, released by the adrenal glands as part of the “fight or flight” response. To some extent, horror movies can benefit us in responding to a futuristic emergent situation as cool as a cucumber.

A group of people is shopping in a small-town supermarket when a strange mist suddenly rolls in and covers everything outside. The horrible mist covers the whole town after the storm sweeps through. As the mist moves over a store, the building begins to shake, shelving and light fixtures fall onto the people inside and we see a few people with injuries after. In the supermarket, people are divided into two groups: one led by David Dragoon, the main character, who is a good man with sober mind and always know what’s right to do. Another led by Mrs Caromed, who believes in the Bible and transfers her own fear to others. Leaving the store is dangerous as we can see that the few who are brave (or stupid) enough to leave the store are quickly and brutally killed by something. As you focus on more on this film, the more scared you will feel.

The Mist is a one of the good horror movies on Netflix. It is directed by Frank Darabont with Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden and Laurie Holden being its leading characters. The Mist (2007) has an extreme tragic ending that David eventually killed his son Billy and his girlfriend. But it’s quite realistic.

Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez in Resident Evil (2002)

Resident Evil was released in 2002 and is based on the video game of the same name. This movie successfully recreated the game's feel. Because it kept exposition to a minimum of what you needed to know for this particular story and didn't borrow from or revise any original characters or settings, it supported and strengthened the franchise. The film follows heroine Alice and a band of Umbrella Corporation commandos as they attempt to contain the outbreak of the T-virus at a secret underground facility. It gets a bit spooky when we hear the name Crimson Peak. What happens to you when you first see the film's title? Does the word crimson remind you of the color of blood? But that's not the most horrible part, but the emotions are. It centers on the story of Edith Crushing, a budding author who prefers writing horror stories to the romance novels that her editor wants and lives with his father. Edith meets Sir Thomas Sharpe, who later becomes romantically attached to Edith. But Edith's childhood friend Dr.Alan McMichael disapproves of their relationship. After her father's death, Edith marries Sir Thomas Sharpe and returns to England with him. Sharpe's mansion sits atop a red clay mine, where Edith finds a dark secret about him and her sister.

At the beginning of the film, Ed (Patrick Wilson), who hunts the ghosts, and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) probe a murder known as "The Amityville Horror." Lorraine can see the murders in the house by getting out of her body. They meet the Hodgson family, presided by single mother Peggy (Frances O'Connor) and her four children, to whom some mysterious events happen. Thus, Warrens make the trip to England to find out whether or not the Hodgsons are faking the haunting or stopping them from becoming the next Amityville. There's a more profound mystery that Ed and Lorraine have to work within, and there's the start of an overarching plot with the sinister demonic nun. The audience can feel the tension, suspense, and dread, in a palm-sweating and heart-pounding sense. The film is genuinely scary throughout the whole plot.

Directed by Kevin Ko, Incantation depicts the story of Li Ronan (Tsai Hsuan-yen) as she tries to protect her daughter Dodo (Huang Sin-ting), from an ancient curse. Incantation describes how a mother would go to regain custody of her child. Though the initial conflict stems from a supernatural encounter, the need to provide a stable home in the midst of personal turmoil anchors the film thematically. There's a humanizing element in the movie that proves to be relatable even during the wildest of events. As we probe into this film further, we can't help but think: is Ronan's devotion to her daughter a reflection of her unconditional love or an overwhelming sense of guilt.

This is one of the new horror movies 2022 on Netflix, where you can find your answer. Incantation (2022) is one of the best psychological horror movies that's more disturbing than scary in Netflix movies 2022.

10.It Follows (2015)

Maika Monroe plays Jay in It Follows (2015)

It's a ghost story about teenagers who have sex. Actually, It Follows is not about sex but an unbearable, unsinkable mood that descends when you come of age and never wholly dissipates, not even after climactic sexual or other violent acts.

After having sex with her boyfriend Hugh (Jake Weary), Jay (Maika Monroe) is chloroformed and tied up by Hugh. He impatiently tells her the horrible truth: She is the latest victim of a sexually-transmitted haunting. She must pass this horror on to another person by having more sex. If she doesn't do so, she will be relentlessly pursued by someone she knows or a stranger. She tells this to her friends, who don't believe her but eventually come to help her out of the situation. What's most disquieting about "It Follows" is how it presents sex as neither abnormal nor beneficial. Ultimately, rather than sex, what seems threatening here is impending adulthood in all its dimensions.

As one of the horror movies on Netflix, the film is about illogical actions that have long-lasting consequences. There are more Christmas movies on Netflix coming this winter such as The Claus Family 2 and Falling for Christmas, more horror movies upcoming such as Halloween Ends , Winnie the pooh horror movie, etc.
