synopsis

In The Dark Tower series, 11-year-old Jake Chambers is haunted by visions of a malevolent figure known as the Man in Black, who aims to destroy the titular Tower and bring about the destruction of the universe. Meanwhile, a lone Gunslinger stands in opposition to the Man in Black. Despite Jake's claims, his mother, stepfather, and psychiatrists dismiss these visions as mere dreams brought on by the trauma of his father's recent death. One day, workers from an alleged psychiatric facility arrive at his apartment in New York City and offer to treat Jake's supposed delusions. However, Jake recognizes these workers as monsters from his visions disguised in human form and flees from them. While evading his pursuers, Jake follows a clue from his visions to an abandoned house, where he discovers a high-tech portal that transports him to a post-apocalyptic world known as Mid-World.
