synopsis

1976, Virginia, USA. Norma (Cameron Diaz), a high school teacher, and her husband Arthur (James Marsden), who works for NASA, are happy with their successful careers and their food, The only drawback is that his son, Walter (Sam Oz Stone), is seriously ill. As the years went by, the son's condition worsened and the couple became unable to afford the huge medical expenses. One morning, a mysterious black car left a box with a red button at Norma's door. Soon Norma is visited by a man who claimed that it was a box that would bring happiness to its owner, and that every time it was clicked, a great deal of wealth would be entered into the account, corresponding to the death of someone in the world. What will Norma and his wife choose between the huge medical bill for their son and the lives of innocent people?
