Watch Straight Outta Compton
(2015)In the mid-1980s, when the streets of Compton, California, became one of the most dangerous places in America due to crime, drugs, and gangs, five young men from the area: Ace Cooper, MC Ren, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella, and Eazy-E gathered to form the rap group N.W.A., turning their upbringing into brash, straightforward music and using it to convey to the authorities their voice of rebellion to the authorities. The still ongoing but ineffective "Drug War" in the United States, the rejection of gangsta rap in mainstream America, the Rodney King case in '92, and even the ignorance of many people about HIV and AIDS in the late '80s and early '90s are all shown in the film. The film shows the rejection of the "Gangsta Rap" case, the Rodney King case in '92, and even the ignorance of many people about HIV and AIDS in the late 80s and early 90s. In addition to being a biography of N.W.A., the film can also be seen as a history lesson focusing on the survival of black people in America.
