synopsis

In the 1980s Harlem, Claireece "Precious" Jones(Gabourey Sidibe), is a 16-year-old black girl who lives a hard life with her abusive mother. She has a mentally disabled daughter and now she is two months pregnant again, and the father is the man who raped her. Precious slowly regained her passion for life after she met several other troubled girls and a teacher, Blue Ryan, but she found out she had AIDS. Between hope and misfortune, where does Precious go from here?
