synopsis

In the film Play Misty for Me, a disc jockey named Dave Garver is pursued romantically by an obsessive fan named Evelyn Draper. After meeting at a bar, Dave accompanies Evelyn to her apartment where she reveals herself as the anonymous caller who repeatedly requests the song "Misty" by Erroll Garner on his radio show. What follows is a cautionary tale about the potentially disastrous consequences of a single casual encounter. Evelyn begins stalking Dave, disrupting his work engagements, attacking his housekeeper, vandalizing his property, and ultimately threatening to harm his girlfriend Tobie Williams. The haunting melody of "Misty" will forever be associated with the fear and paranoia that this experience instilled in Dave.
