synopsis

May tells that during her childhood, May experienced profound loneliness as a girl with a lazy eye. Apart from a peculiar homemade doll, a birthday gift from her mother carefully displayed in a glass case, she had no friends. As May grows into an odd and solitary young woman, she finds employment at an animal hospital, devoting most of her time to assisting the veterinarian in surgeries and meticulously sewing up operated animals. Her coworker Polly, who is a lesbian, harbors a peculiar fascination with May. When May encounters Adam Stubbs, a mechanic, her affection is captivated by his hands, and she develops a crush on him. They embark on a relationship, but one night, May's eccentric behavior pushes Adam away. Left alone once again, May briefly engages in a romantic encounter with Polly, only to feel rejected when Polly meets Ambrosia. When May's cherished doll is accidentally shattered, her unhinged mind leads her to construct a new companion using the finest parts sourced from her acquaintances.
