synopsis

Dummy tells that Steven, a man nearing 30 and still living with his parents, pursues his lifelong dream of becoming a ventriloquist after being inspired by an old Edgar Bergen movie. With assistance from Lorena, his attractive unemployment counselor, he secures a job. However, a well-intentioned gesture leads Lorena to obtain a restraining order against him. Despite this, she agrees to a date, but their relationship faces obstacles due to Steven's unconventional family and his inexperience with women. Steven's sister Heidi, a wedding planner, contends with her persistent and inebriated ex-fiancé. Fangora, Steven's self-proclaimed punk rocker friend, offers him dubious advice on women. The wedding of a Jewish girl, featuring unexpected music, becomes a transformative event for all involved, prompting significant life changes.
