synopsis

City of Hope is a portrayal of a modern-day, average-sized American city. The central conflict revolves around an outdated apartment complex that impedes a significant commercial project. Contractor Joe Rinaldi, who owns the buildings, faces pressure to burn them down for the project to move forward. His estranged son, Nick, becomes involved in the city's political power struggles. Mayor Baci and police officer O'Brien are corrupt and determined to advance the project, while idealistic councilman Wynn grapples with finding a balance between doing what is right and meeting the demands of his Black community.
