synopsis

Janey is on holiday with her brother Jim, and her parents Kate and Ed at their beach house on the Mahurangi Peninsula. Ed and Kate want a divorce, and they sit in the backyard drinking whiskey all day, leaving Janey and Jim to their own fate. Cady is a local boatman who Kate is having an affair with. In response to his wife's drinking problems and repeated infidelities, Ed also turns to alcohol, neglecting both his wife and his children, which eventually leads to the tragic fate of one character.
